This week we went on our first Wednesday Walk. On our weekly walk we will explore some part of our local community and present to an audience back at school. This week we were learning about sports & the Olympics. We went on a walk to Nenagh Courthouse to see the statues of local Olympic heroes. We learned about Bob Tisdall, the Olympic Champion who competed in the 400m Hurdles in LA 1932. We also learned about 2 Olympic athletes who represented USA. Matt McGrath an Irish-American police officer, an Olympic champion in Stockholm 1912 in the 16lb Hammer and Johnny Hayes, an Olympic Champion at the London 1908 games who competed in the marathon.
