STEM

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. In Nenagh Community NS we acknowledge that the foundations for STEM education begin in early childhood. With our STEM challenges, we are providing a chance for the children to develop their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

An example of a STEM challenge was where Senior infants had to build a tower using spaghetti and marshmallows.

We participate in Science week and Maths week each year.

Our school is currently participating in the Curious Minds programme. Curious Minds is part of Science Foundation Ireland’s Education and Public Engagement Programme, which aims to increase interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) among students, teachers and members of the public.

After all our hard work, interesting experiments, amazing guest speakers and a very impressive Science showcase (thanks Chattykids!) we received super news that Nenagh CNS has been awarded a Curious Minds GOLD Award for our learning in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths!
