Science Week in Third Class

Third class had a very busy week for ‘Science Week’.  We started the week with a trip to Nenagh Arts Centre on Monday for the ‘Science rappers guide to the solar system’ with Jon Chase. It was an interactive and fun way to learn all about the solar system.

On Tuesday we did a cloud dough experiment using cornflour and conditioner , we tested shampoo to see would we get the same results as the conditioner and discovered that food colouring is not so easy to wash off our hands!!! We also examined our finger prints by printing them onto balloons and blowing them up to have a closer look at how everyone’s print is unique and then with the balloons blown up we decided to have some fun with static electricity!

On Wednesday we did a very hands on STEM challenge to build our own playground using mainly recyclable materials and the boys produced fantastic designs!

Finally on Thursday we finished with a lava lamp experiment to look at how water and oil separate and to see gas bubbles rising within the water!
