Farewell to Mr Gunnell

All the staff and pupils at Nenagh CNS want to thank John for the 5 fantastic years that we had the honour of calling him our Principal. John joined our school in September 2019 and has lead our school team as we navigated the many changes of the past 5 years. His dedication to the school and support for pupils and the school team was quickly evident when we were met with the Covid -19 pandemic. He supported staff and pupils alike as we reopened after the Covid-19 school closure and implemented procedures which provided us all a safe place to work and learn. John also lead us in the reconfiguration of our school, moving from a catholic Junior Boys school to a multi-denominational, vertical and Co-Educational school under the patronage of Tipperary Education and Training Board, the first in Tipperary.

Concurrent with that Mr Gunnell has been an integral part of our school community, forming relationships with everyone, making time for those who needed a little extra support, giving children a voice, creating small jobs around the school to give them responsibility, promoting wellbeing and ensuring our school was a happy and welcoming place. While we are sad to see Mr. Gunnell leave, we are so lucky to have known him as our leader. John, we wish you all the best in the next chapter of your career. We hope that you continue to take the challenges that may face you in your stride and we wish you every happiness for the future. We will miss you Mr. Gunnell.
